Why the first QR scan sets the tone

How the first 3 seconds of a menu load quietly decide the entire ticket size.

There is a moment on every table, right after the guest scans the QR, where they decide — mostly unconsciously — how much they trust this restaurant. That decision then quietly shapes what they order, how much they spend, and whether they come back.

Speed is the first impression

If the menu takes more than two seconds to render, guests interpret it as a slow restaurant. Not a slow website — a slow restaurant. Optimize the initial load ruthlessly.

Photos beat descriptions

A dish with a clean, well-lit photo is ordered 30–40% more often than the same dish with only text. It is the single highest-ROI improvement on any menu.

The 'signature' section

Anchor the guest with a small 'Chef's picks' or 'Most loved' section at the top. It gives decisive guests a fast path and hesitant guests confidence. You do not get a second chance at that first scan. Design it with the same care you give the entrance of your restaurant — because for a growing share of your guests, that scan is the entrance.
